Five Generations of Builders – Working for you Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

GUIDING FAMILY PRINCIPLES

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Fred Johnson — Hastings, NE — Johnson Imperial Homes

Fred J. Johnson (First Generation)

1880 - 1942

Fred J. Johnson was born four miles southeast of Harvard, Nebraska. His parents were farmers, as was Fred, during his younger years. By 1918, Fred developed an interest in designing and building his own home - an imposing, two-story structure near his birthplace. Additionally, Fred purchased hardware stores in Edgar, Davenport, and Ong, Nebraska, this same year. In 1926, Fred purchased a lumber yard and hardware store in Clarks, Nebraska, and in 1932, Fred organized a Lumber Co. in Hastings, NE. During these years, he contracted or supplied materials for many building projects in south-central Nebraska.

Harold R. Johnson (Second Generation)

1907 - 1996

Harold R. Johnson, son of Fred, was born on a farm three miles north of Clay Center, Nebraska. In 1925, Harold enrolled at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln and graduated in 1929 with a teaching degree. Harold was a teacher in the Hastings Public Schools for the next twelve years. In 1942, Harold's father, Fred, suddenly died from a heart attack. Harold then decided to change careers and become involved with building materials and construction, resulting in a forty-year journey of land development and construction of all residential and commercial building projects.
